In her words: Detroit retiree gives her side

Among the hundreds of Detroit retirees and their supporters who demonstrated Tuesday outside of the federal court building. Next Chapter Detroit found Wanda Jan Hill. A lifelong Detroit resident, she worked for the city of Detroit for 30 years as a fiscal manager for various departments.

Hill opposes any cuts to pensions and favors even bigger cuts to financial institutions. Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr’s current proposal calls for 15 cents on the dollar payments to creditors and as low as 66 cents on the dollar for pensioners like Hill.
